My Living Will

Last night, C and I were sitting in the family room and I said to her, 'I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle. If that ever happens, just pull the plug.'

She got up, unplugged the computer, and threw out my wine.

Patti D.:

Hi Katie!

My mom has borderline personality characteristics and is extremly negative and vengeful...she's bullied me my whole life, and, I've let her, hoping one day, she'd stop or just love me. Well, I'm now 46 and she's 86 and I haven't spoke with her in 2 years. I feel like I need to make contact. I'm afraid of her, she always seems to corner me into doing things for her and then when I help her, she complains the entire time about everything. I would love to say that I'm too busy, but, the truth is, I've been on disability (I had a nervous breakdown)for over 10 years now and I've had problems maintaining a job. I want to come from a place of love and be kind to her-but, I haven't been able to do so in the past.
