Testimonial Tuesday

The Work of Byron Katie is an extraordinarily effective tool for personal growth and inner awakening. Taking up The Work in earnest has revealed the many challenges of my life to be playing but perfect parts in the unfolding of an amazing transformational journey. As the owner of a leadership coaching & consulting business, the Turnaround House helped me see that at the core of all transformational change is self-leadership – the ability to look in the mirror and be the change I want to see in others. By peeling the onion during daily intensive Worksessions, I learned that true influence, true power comes not from influence over others, but from authenticity, integrity – my ability, above all, to be true to myself. From this has come a freedom, a joy, and a trust in life that has only continued to grow since my time in residence. Now, anything that disrupts me holds the key to my growth. Freedom is a choice and The Work is the unlocking move. I will be forever grateful to Katie and the staff at Turnaround House for the profound impact they have had in both my personal and professional life. – NC

Loving What Is by Byron Katie

Health Sickness, and Death

Health Sickness, and Death

When you’re asleep, does your body hurt? When you’re in the worst pain and the phone rings and it’s the call you’ve been waiting for and you’re mentally focused on the phone call, there’s no pain. If you change your thinking, you change the pain – Byron Katie

Mother’s Love

Byron Katie on Parents and Children

The bottom line is that your mother does love you—there’s nothing she can do about that. Just don’t expect her to be aware of it. Your mother loves you so much that she would withhold love so you can get this thing, this self-loving thing. You can’t love her until you do that. If I hate me, I hate my mother. If I love me, I love my mother. It’s that simple.

The Perfect Amount of Money

Byron Katie on Work and Money

After I found The Work inside myself—after it found me—I began to notice that I always had the perfect amount of money for me right now, even when I had little or none. Happiness is a clear mind. A clear and sane mind knows how to live, how to work, what e-mails to send, what phone calls to make, and what to do to create what it wants without fear. Do you want your money to be safe and secure? Hopeless! Read my lips: hopeless! Banks burn, countries are bombed, people lie, they break their promises, they bend contracts. It’s hopeless, hopeless.

Thought Thursday: Reality

On Self-Realization

If you want reality to be different than it is, you might as well try to teach a cat to bark. You can try and try, and in the end that cat will look up at you and say, “meow.”  Wanting reality to be different than it is, is hopeless. You can spend the rest of your life trying to teach a cat to bark.   —Byron Katie.

Thought Thursday: How Do I Know I Don’t Need Money?

On Work and Money

When you lose something, you’ve been spared—either that or god is a sadist. How do I know I don’t need money? It’s gone! I’ve been spared: what I would have done with that money would obviously have been much less useful for me than losing it.   —Byron Katie
